THE BENEFITS AND BEST MOMENTS FROM THE INTRAMURALS SEASON APRIL 2023

INTRAMS#1 THE PARADE

Last April, I had the pleasure of participating in the intramural parade as a member of the student council. I had an awesome time and learned a great deal through the experience, such as teamwork, leadership, and the importance of school spirit. As part of this blog post, I am going to share with you some highlights of the event as well as some learnings I took away from it.

It has been an annual tradition at our school for years to hold an intramurals parade that shows off the different sports teams and clubs that exist on campus. Basically, each group is represented by a theme and a banner that represents their identity and their achievements. A parade takes place in front of the gymnasium football field, then goes around the campus, before ending in front of the gymnasium. At the end of the parade, the opening ceremony is held in the gymnasium where the parade ends.

One of the responsibilities of student council members was to organize and coordinate the parade. They are called marshals and they had to communicate with the different groups. They had to assign them their order and location and make sure they had everything they needed. They also had to oversee the parade route setup and cleanup to ensure everything ran smoothly and safely. While the remaining members are in front of the parade including me holding a banner of intramural because I was one of the first aid committee that did not have any jobs to do at the time of the parade.

INTRAMS#2 THE FIRST AID

As a student council member, I participated in the intramurals as part of the first aid committee. The ad hoc committee was formed to provide medical assistance to the students who will help facilitate and participate in the booths of various student organizations and councils located nearby. This is the main concern of the Physical and Education Department, which is why it asked the Central Student Council to form this committee to address these medical needs. The first aid committee was responsible for providing medical assistance to the athletes and spectators of the booths during the intramurals. As part of our first aid services, we had to prepare first aid kits. We also had to attend a training session on basic first-aid skills before the event. This was a valuable experience for me, as I learned a lot about teamwork, leadership, and emergency response.

We had to deal with multiple situations during the intramural games that required our attention and action. As an emergency unit, we had to deal with a variety of injuries, including minor ones like cuts, bruises, and sprains. In addition, we had to deal with more severe ones like passing out. The team needed to work together effectively, communicate effectively, and follow protocols to succeed.

However, this experience was not without challenges. We had to cope with the stress and pressure of handling emergencies, especially when there were multiple cases simultaneously. We had to overcome our fears and doubts and act quickly and calmly. We also had to balance our duties with our own health and well-being and make sure we were hydrated and rested. Gladly we did not have a lot of patients which means that most of the involved individuals at the event were safe.

INTRAMS#3 THE CAMARADERIE

Being on the first aid committee did not stop me from supporting my strand and classmates in their sports after my duty was over. I was always eager to cheer them on, congratulate them on their victories and console them on their losses. I also joined some friendly games with them whenever I had the chance. I also appreciated their support for me and my role on the first aid committee. I enjoyed being part of the intramural spirit and camaraderie that united us as a school community. I also enjoyed being part of the intramural spirit and camaraderie that united us as a school community.

The intramurals were a memorable experience for me as a student council member and as a student. I learned valuable skills and lessons that I will carry with me throughout my life. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and support my school in this way. Some of the skills and lessons that I learned were how to communicate effectively, how to work in a team, how to handle pressure, how to be compassionate, and how to balance different roles and responsibilities. I also learned more about myself, my strengths and weaknesses, my interests and passions, and my goals and aspirations.

Here's a playlist for you to enjoy while reminiscing your own intramural parade experience too POV: Intrams in Highschool.
